Although most dental procedures are painless and most dentists are very gentle a lot of people do experience dental anxiety. There is many different reasons for this. They can commonly include fear that stems from an unpleasant dental experience that they had when they were younger, or fear of pain, horror stories that they heard from other people, fear of loss of control, sensation overload, fear of drowning and fear of the unknown.
